Dr. Fladen of the Fladen Eye And Lasik Center is trained and experienced in a full range of refractive procedures, which can correct myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism, and in some cases, glaucoma with little pain and discomfort. The most popular - and successful - of these include Excimer Laser Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK), LASIK, and CustomVue LASIK; they achieve outstanding results by gently reshaping the cornea and eliminating refractive errors.
PRK
Conversely, PRK involves the gentle scraping of corneal surface cells and the use of an excimer laser to reshape the cornea. The procedure, intended to treat myopia, is quick, painless, and extremely precise. The recovery time for PRK is a bit longer than those of other procedures - most patients experience optimal results after 1 to 3 months - but side effects are minimal, and success rates are quite high.
